BeFit, a new whole body fitness and training studio on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton, approached us to design a unique interior and exterior that reflected their values of health, wellness, and community.
By using highly detailed 3D models and photo-realistic renders, we were able to help BeFit visualize and make important design decisions for their space long before any construction started.
Our initial meeting with the friendly people at BeFit involved the typical site visit with measurement taking and photographic documentation. It also included a sit down coffee in which we asked them a series of questions that allowed us to better understand their companies needs, goals, and the identity that they wanted to portray. Then we hit the sketch books and created a variety of interior and exterior concepts that aligned with BeFit's unique modern professional mixed with bohemian relaxed vibe.
We selected our three strongest concepts, that embodied the feel of BeFit in slightly different ways, and presented photo-realistic renders to the client. Our revision process allowed for the client to mix and match between the concepts in order to come to the perfect design. We also provided fabrication estimates for all of the custom furniture pieces, including a sliding barn door, benches, stools, reception desk, cupboards, shelving units, as well as for the exterior facade.
One of our client's main requirements was for a flexible and adaptable space which would allow them to change it's use from a place to relax and chat over a cup of tea to a front window yoga classroom on the fly. As such, we made sure that nothing in the front section of the store was built in or permanent. Once complete, the interior will feature a carefully chosen blend of custom, modern furniture, with a few more mellow pieces such as hammock to create a unique feel true to the image of BeFit. The full wall length chalkboard emphasizes BeFit's vision of building community among its members by providing a space to post success stories, photos, and messages. The exterior will include matching overhead Lole and BeFit signage, large, bold, drive-by visible window graphics, and an exterior monitor displaying information as well as current and upcoming fitness events at a foot traffic level.
By asking the right questions, doing the research upfront, and by providing BeFit with several different interior and exterior options using our skills in 3D modelling and rendering, we were able to design an interior and exterior that met the needs of our client and embodied the essence of their company. As a result of our comprehensive design package, BeFit was eligible to apply for the city of Edmonton's facade and storefront improvement grants.
