Approach
Looking to fill an emerging market niche, Gamrpod came to Onetwosix Design after being inspired by the company’s Loop Privacy Pods. Our goal was to apply the knowledge gained from developing privacy pods to create a pod for gamers. An immersive, yet functional, space with a unique aesthetic that would appeal to the end user/gamer was the desired outcome.
Research
Through research, hands-on testing, and industry analysis, we worked to understand all potential aspects of the unique product and identify opportunities for innovative development. The OneTwoSix development process used advanced CAD modeling and 3D printing to rapidly design a potential product. Through end user tested physical prototypes, we incorporated feedback from the all participants and the client to develop a final design direction.
Final Product
Working closely with our client, our work culminated in the Gamrpod. The final product combines a small footprint, integrated technology, ergonomic seating, and a noise-free space for serious gamers. It also allows for the game player to be on prominent display to engage viewers and participants interested in the gameplay while it is happening live.
Gamrpod is the first of its kind in the gaming world and has been met with excitement throughout the industry. The private booth features a dual monitor setup, ergonomic seating position, ventilation, and cable management to create a uniquely immersive gaming space. The blue colour of the Pod and seating area works like a green screen to allow users to zero out the background and immerse themselves in virtual surroundings of their choosing.
The new Gamrpod is quickly being incorporated into the larger gaming industry making appearances at both professional and amateur events as well as in the gaming retail sector. With the growth in the gaming industry, we expect to see more and more Gamrpods at key gaming locations in the future.
