Vermont - Coat Rack

Cedar|Cast Iron

Vermont is a coat rack inspired by railroad construction. The materials used were all found in a scrap yard. It is composed of a cedar fence post, railroad spikes, and railroad ties. The coat rack was carved, assembled, and beat into shape using only a machete, a hammer, and sandpaper. Limited to rudimentary hand tools allowed exploration of the material qualities of cedar. The rugged aesthetic of Vermont contrast with the clothes that hang upon it.
